In Sanskrit, Shandi means “end,” but also “fine-tuning.” A closed circle, perfect in its completeness. Shandi leverages an astonishing sound spectrum of twenty notes, 13 above and 7 below, including 5 Ding. The extreme flexibility of the D minor “kurd” scale, recognizable and welcoming from the first contact with the instrument, is capable of unfolding a very wide range of sonic gradations: each one is a notch on the wall at the height of our desires, fully opening the door to the secrets that we are.
